Constructions & GSM Sector

The Civil Works Department is primarily concerned with the construction, upgrade and modification of cable networks of the Saudi Telecommunication Company(STC), SCECO, SWCC,MODA and other public utilities of the Kingdom.

 

The department is structured and dedicated to meet the tremendous growth in land line, mobile communication and the subsequent Technological development of the Kingdom.

The main function of this department is:

  • OSP Design, Construction and implementation
  • Design and Implementation of Civil Works, Primary, Secondary Networks.
  • Turnkey solutions for various Cable Networks and transmission projects like: Long Distance Projects, Junction and Access Networks.

 

Presently the prime function of this department is to diversify into various Civil and Construction projects in Electrical Power transmission and Distribution, Copper and Fiber Optic Network

INTRODUCTION
GSM Department assures that responsibilities and authorities will be defined and communicated within the project management so as to ensure that total support and dedication is displayed by all personnel.


The prime focus of the project management team will be well understanding of the Client's requirements as well as ensuring that those requirements are adequately met to enhance client satisfaction.

 

 

 

DEPARTMENT DEVELOPMENT

A. Department Description


  1. GSM Telecom Expansion Project comprises of the design & execution of the civil works infrastructure, installation, testing and commissioning of BTS, BSC and other equipment at SWAP and other new sites.

  2. GSM is well aware of the tasks that will have to be carried out. Moreover, GSM is quite confident that it can carry out the various project tasks asshow below, in view of its resources and successful track-record.
    • Preparation of Final Detailed Engineering Design Package (FDED).
    • Detailed Surveys as Applicable.
    • Site Cleaning and PAT Preparation.
    • Site Development for Green Field Sites (Civil Infrastructure).
    • Fencing, if required.
    • Construction of Concrete Foundations.
    • Erection of Towers and Shelters.
    • Installation of BTS, BSC and other equipment.
    • Existing Building Analysis, new Shelter on Roof (Complete with Foundation).
    • New Antenna Mounts, New Cable Tray.
    • Complete Electrical Design, and SCECO Power Upgrading (if required).
    • Installation of new 900 MHz and 1800 MHz Antennas.

 




B. Department Objectives


The objective of this department is to modify and expand the present system at various locations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

 

Technical Scope of Work

    1. Carry out all Civil Works undertaken in a timely manner according to the Plan and Schedule put
      forward by the project contractor.
    2. Ensure that all Civil Works are carried out as per the contract specifications and are in accordance with the approved drawings, PCD & CFDED.
    3. Submit FDED for the Civil Works to the subcontractor for review and approval.
    4. Prepare complete materials as per site requirements.
    5. Purchase & transport of mentioned materials to the ware house or directly to sites.
    6. Carry out all works according to the Work Order issued by the consultants.
    7. Submit all change order to the subcontractor supported by adequate justification and details of
      impact.
    8. Prepare and submit PAT documentation as per the relevant guidelines for review, and rectify the deficiencies in time
    9. Ensure that all As-built quantities and details are accurate.
    10. Monitor the Outstanding Items List (OIL).
    11. Obtain Provisional Acceptance Certificate (PAC) from the consultants.
    12. Prepare and submit Final Acceptance Test (FAT) documentation to the consultants.
    13. Forward invoices to subcontractor for approval.

ELECTRO MECHANICAL PROJECTS

The company has extended its activities to include electromechanical works, such as equipment replacement and installation, system upgradation and spare parts supply. Types of contracts executed include replacement and installation of A/C Package units, Chiller Units, Air Handling Units, re-insulation of chilled water pipes, Building Management System (BMS), supply of Electromechanical spare parts, installation of generators upto 1000KVA and other related electrical systems. Main client are STC, SEC-CRB, SRB, M.O.W, M.O.H and M.O.E (Saudi Electric Company-Central and Southern Region Branch-Ministry of water&Electricity-Minisrty of Health and Ministry of Education ) and various other goverment agencies. Other main activities executed earlier are as follows:

 

  • Installation of 132kV 3x1Cx1200 mm sq, Cu, XLPE Cable with all complete accessories including Link Boxes and Earthing systems. (By Subcontracting).
  • DC Power System.
  • H.V.A.C Work.
  • Stand by Generators.
  • Hot Gas System for power plants.
  • Supply and install pamping stations with control system.

 

Brief description about Electrical Project
Install, remove, replace and modify underground distribution facilities for operating voltage up to and including 36 k.v.

 

 

  1. Excavation of cable trenches in different type of soil ,backfilling ,installation of protective tiles, warning tapes and warning signs, reinstatement of roads, sidewalks and grasses, and fabrication and installation of concrete foundation pads and duct banks.
  2. Laying underground copper/aluminum/fiber optic cables of various sizes and voltages, including splicing and terminations by using heat shrink or remolded materials and installation of identification markers, tagging, testing of insulation resistance and continuity and pre –commissioning tests.
  3. Installation of grounding or earthing materials for various electrical equipment.
  4. Installation of rising assemblies of various configurations and voltages to integrate underground distribution systems.
  5. Installation of various electrical equipment such as package & unit substations, transformers, switches, switchgears, Lv panels and other pad mounted electrical equipment including precommissioning tests.
  6. Installation of customers service facilities including service cables, meters, breakers cabinets, meters and other equipments.
  7. Install and Supply overhead lines including fixing post, Wires, Transformers, Breakers, Switches K.W.meters.
