OSP Sector
OSP Department has been established in the year 1998 with the strength of just 76. The main purpose for the establishment of the Dept is to build up and the upgradation of Networks for the clients especially STC, MODA, SEC and later Mobily which was very much appreciated by the clients.
Total number of staff presently working for the Department is 732 including key personnels. The Department is headed by Sector Head followed by Department Managers for STC Construction, STC Maintainance, Mobily Construction, Coordination & Management followed by Section Head and Project Managers for the following projects.
Construction Project Manager for Gassim District, Hail, North Border, Riyadh District, Riyadh, Al Jouf District, Maintenance Project Manager for Gassim District, Hail, North Border, Riyadh District, Yanbu District, Dammam District, Jubail District, Mobily Metro & Access Project Manager for Riyadh, Hofuf and Hail.
The total number of Site Engineers assigned for each project are 17 apart from 34 Site Supervisors, 51 Site Foremens, 42 Copper Cable Jointers, 46 Machine Operators, 507 Skilled labors. The achieved number of projects are 151 almost all over the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia including Riyadh, Riyadh District, Gassim, Hail, ARAR, Dammam, Jubail, Yanbu, Al Jouf, Al Bahaa, Jizan, Taif, Tabuk, and Hofuf.
The main activity of the Department is the construction
of New Outside Telecom Network, Upgradation of the
Existing Network, repair and installation of the Network,
and the Network reventive maintenace.
The Key projects of OSP Department are as follows:
a) STC Construction Project
b) STC Maintenace Project
c)
Mobily Construction Project.
The projects are located at Riyadh, Riyadh District,
Gassim, Hail, ARAR, Dammam, Jubail, Yanbu, Al Jouf,
Al Bahaa, Jizan, Taif, Tabuk, and Hofuf.
The scope of work for the construction project includes:
- Preliminary survey in order to indentify the route map.
- Once the routes are confirmed by Cllient, The final survey is conducted.
- Detail design will be prepared and submitted to client for approval
- On approval of the construction design by ,necessary documents are submitted to Baladiya and other related authorities (STC, SEC, Water, MOT, ARAMCO, MODA, Traffic police & Sewage) as per requirement for work permit.
- A dedicated team will follow up the permits.
- During the period of permit acquisition the necessary mobilization in terms of equipments, manpower and other resources will be carried out.
- Locating and marking of under ground utilities would be done upon permit acquisition.
- Prior to excavation safety measures will be taken as followed: Wearing of safety helpmates and safety shoes Safety sign boards & warning sign Protection posts with flashing lighting system at nights Steel Plates for road crossing Safety Tape (Red /White) Other (As required by the traffic Dept.)
- Excavation work will be implemented using trenchers as per spec, Simultaneously, cleaning, removing of debris will be executed and moved to baladiya dumping area or any other approved area.
- Excavation of manhole/HH pit (Manhole / HH type as per the requirement)
- Installation of Manhole/HH as per approved drawing Manhole/HH will be at every 300m In case of single bend up to 280m In case of sharp bend not more than 250m In case of double bend not exceed 150m to avoid the damages of cables during pulling. Exact location of the manhole/HH will be determined at the site with client or consultation for repositioning if needed. The installation will be in the line and level in order to flush with asphalt level.
- De-watering will be done in case of water in the trench. In case of road crossing, HDD or the trenching will be followed as per MOT / Baladiya.
- Trench cleaning will be done prior to duct installation In case of under ground utilities, pipe line crossing etc. duct installation will be in coordination with utility owners standards.
- Installation of ducts As per spec and requirement Duct secured with steel spacers each of 1.5m Ducts will be terminated in the holes of manholes/HH At every one and half meter spacers will be placed.
- Backfilling Installation of duct in concrete encasement as per spec Place detectable warning tape at 15cm below the surface of asphalt level for future duct detection Asphalting preparation (putting of MC1) 24 hours before. Putting of RC2 at the edges of trench and in the trench. Asphalting for 10cm trench on concrete will complete and remove the safety Milling and Paving will be done for 1m depending on Baladia's requirement
- Mandrel test A test will be done to check the blockages in the ducts.
- Closing of permit.
The scope of work for the Maintenance project includes installation, repair of faults, preventive maintenance for the Network components from Exchange to cabinet and to customer.
